About Us

Icecup – Camp is organized by Ösp Sports Club and will be held with the support and the approval of Special Olympics Iceland, Special Olympics International and the Icelandic Skating Association.

We have organized the Icecup Camp event to further promote disabled skaters where we focus on opportunities for all participants, education and improving relationships between delegations. We will host a competition simulation where we focus on development in all aspects in a welcoming and a safe environment.

The aim of the event is to:
➢ Provide athletes with the opportunity to skate with other skaters in a competition like setting in a supportive and positive environment (program review)
➢ Provide skaters with judge’s feedback of their current programs.
➢ Educate judges in ISU system for Special Olympics (IJS)
➢ Introduce the Icelandic government project Inclusion in Sports
➢ Introduce what Iceland has been doing regarding inclusion in Figure skating
➢ Introduce different aspects of inclusion within the sport of Figure skating -Adaptive Skating
➢ Provide opportunities f or co operation between countries where we can learn and seek support from one another.
➢ Make new friends: parents, athletes, sport directors, coaches, and judges.
➢ Learn a little bit about Icelandic culture and nature with our new friends Trip of Friendship (optional).
